delphi: Korra waterbending in the opening credits. (korra bending)

Oh Korra, you are such a dumbass. Hey, Tonraq - maybe if you'd sheltered your daughter less, she would have some rudimentary radar for fascists. Because that's kind of a useful thing for an Avatar to have.

That said, I could watch Air Family drama all day. I love how realistically the dynamic shifts between the siblings: the two non-Airbenders versus daddy's heir, the two benders versus the only non-bender in the family, two brothers versus a sister, the two settled ones versus the nomad. I hope too that we see the subject raised of how Tenzin would parent Rohan if it turns out he's a non-bender or Earthbender.

(But I could seriously have done without the implication in Bolin's storyline that it's funny and harmless when a girl threatens a boy with violence when he tries to break up. It wouldn't fly the other way around, and it's not cool.)

I was really thinking it was just going to be Korra and her Dad's drama, then was so excited at first when she saw her mom, I was thinking there was going to be some new interesting angle but her Mom was pretty much just parroting the same stuff Dad was. Boo. Though it did come together much better when she bursts in on them after realizing her Dad wasn't involved with the revolutionists and there is honesty from her mom that they did think they would just be "a normal family." But even with that, I wasn't feeling like Korra's mom's actress was injecting any good, well, acting here and it seemed sort of imbalanced. Good on Korra for realizing she still does need her family, even when she's acting like she knows everything.

Maybe we won't see much more of it, but I would read tons about how Korra's parents went about trying to keep her with them, not ready to have to go out and be the Avatar yet.

The Air Family drama seemed a little forced at first, but I thought it really picked up when they were looking for Ikki. There are so many dynamic shifts there and I can totally buy Aang and being obsessed with Tenzin and leaving Kya and Bumi in the hands of Katara. I wonder if they're setting things up for Rohan to not be a bender (like Pema), which I too would find interesting.

Yeah, I wasn't thrilled with that deal in Bolin's storyline either. Zing on Mako though when Bolin reminds him that he's pretty much dumped girls left and right.

The episode felt a little lax up until Unalaq's kidnapping (gorgeous fight scene!), though I was surprised it was Ikki who had run off and not Jenora considering what had happened last episode. At least the ending was a real cliffhanger.

Seriously, what should happen is Tenzin should talk things over with Lin about whether he's being a jerk to his siblings (of course she would say yes. :P).

Also, reading in one of the other communities, I just now realized that how horrible it is for Mako to be talking about how easy it is to dump girls with what happened between him and Asami. Did the writers just totally forget that happened last season? Geeez.

Oh Mako, you are going to so have it coming at the end of the season when Korra decides she needs to take that tour of the Air Temples to develop spiritually and can no longer be attached to earthly concerns by the lips.

Yes! yes! Yes! Oh man, if this were to happen it would make me so happy.

I do really want to see Lin interacting with Bumi and Kya, it makes me wonder if she ever gave Tenzin a hard time about his interactions with them, I believe she would. Eeeee, I could totally see Kya writing letters to Lin while she was off "discovering herself." Yay!

I would have also really liked to seen more from the viewpoint of the citizens, like the people who did actually go through with kidnapping Unalaq.
