Title: The Different
Fandom: Avatar: the Last Airbender
Characters: Multiple (the Gaang and their mentors)
Music: "The Different" by Melissa Etheridge
Rating: General
Info: Potential spoilers for the series.
It'll come as no surprise to anyone who knows me from the Harry Potter fandom that I have a weakness for the older characters in kid-oriented media. Avatar: The Last Airbender, like Harry Potter, is rich in supporting adult characters with tantalizing histories who serve as mentors (for good or ill) along the kids' path to adulthood and world-saving.
This is my first full-length vid (con-crit and tips always appreciated), and happily, I learned a lot putting this one together. Things like "Animation is not the same as live action video," and "What that little frame rate box is for," and "So that's why my audio sucks!" Trial and error. So much error.

Date: 2017-07-14 12:09 pm (UTC)there is this moment in childhood when the idea how cool/empowering it is to have the kids be theones who save the day/world, who outsmart every adult around them (if there are adults around) makes room for the realasation that the adults fucked up if the only way to solve the things is to sent kids fighting and atla does a real good way of dealing with that.
i really love the lyric match for "Mama's rollin' in the back yard" with the moon and water spirit (and general how you managed to includ this spirits and their teaching without it feeling unconected to the rest. like the dragons and the lyrics "We'll dance without a care" because both Zuko and Aang needed to (re)learn fire as more then the destructive (imperalistic, abusive family) they had in their heads before)) "And time will make it heal/And time will make it gone" Kataras growth is as often said just breathtaking but i love the coupling with sokka and yue because i am a sucker for the sibling relationship and the way atla (and your vid!) manage to portray all this different kind of heartbreaks from growing up in a war with the same amount of gentle understanding.
And as someone else said thanks for includding hugs!
sorry if this coment doesnt make much sense. i am not good at saying what i mean.
