The December Meme (Laid-Back Version)

(Lifted from [personal profile] torachan.)

Work's been brain-draining, and I'd love to have more to natter on about here than co-worker complaints. Scheduling thirty days of posting prompts is a bit much, but if there's anything you'd like to see me talk about in December (fandoms, fic, life in Victoria/BC/Canada/general, writing, books, music, recipes, TV, assorted recs) comment below anytime this month and I will oblige.

What was your first fandom and what got you into it?

Also I'll throw the music recs back at you, too, since I'm also always curious about what other people listen to.

How did I miss your earlier entry?! I'm so sorry you were sick when you posted last, and I hope you're on the upswing now. I really wish I were closer to where you are so I could bring you some soup and some muffins and some spicy sausage, and maybe some of our really tasty lamb chops, and probably tell you a bedtime story too.

I love it when you post things! Tell me about what kind of spiders live in your apartment. Tell me a secret you know about a character you write. Tell me what item you desperately wish someone would knit for you.

(Warning: I am on a slight knitting kick lately. If you would prefer not to receive a knitted item, please tell me now.)

Can I ask for book recs? Or if you like, comics.

How about a post about your favorite relatively unsung book, and/or your favorite character that doesn't get much fannish love.

What fic of yours are you the most proud of?

Hi:

Anything you'd like to discuss about your fic The Fisher King.

Because I know that's ridiculously broad, here're some jumping off points, if you want them, in no particular order:
1. Anything about sexuality and disability, because they're very tightly intertwined in Moody's character.
2. How you managed not to make this fic squicky beyond belief. When I reached the section where Percy was five, and realized their connection went back that far, I would have bailed if:
A.: It wasn't you writing.
B.: You hadn't just had a fantastic scene with Rufus.
And C.: I hadn't really, really adored your Moody characterization a few paragraphs back.
But I didn't, and it wasn't squicky. Writing cross-gen with that large of a gap and having it be believable is something I struggle with.
3. The ending. You wrote somewhere that your ending would have been different, if not for being in the fest you wrote it for? (If you wrote no such thing, sorry!:) If so, how, if you can remember?
4. Percy himself; it was one of the most spot-on Percy pov. Any thoughts about getting inside Percy's head?
And 5, just because one will never know if one never asks. The conversation between Rufus and Moody that Percy ostentatiously doesn't eavesdrop on; if you know, what was it about? With my minor character predilections, Percy's conscientious attention to work had me tearing my hair out!:)

Thanks so much for doing this, and giving us such a broad scope.

good luck with work hell.

1) since I'm rewatching Mag7, talk about your OTP and the sorts of things that drew you to the characters/stories/etc
2) your dream show/book/whatever that you can be fannish about. Like, the various elements you'd love to have combined into one place
3) something food! Food that comforts or gets you interested in eating or disinterested in eating. Something that gives you a visceral thingy thing
4) Life and age and experiences changing your taste in fannish stuff

What would be your dream plotlines for Legend of Korra Book 3? What characters would they involve and, if applicable, what pairings?

Something fannish: I would like thoughts about rare pairs and rare characters.

Something northerly: I've never been north of, erm... the Kawartha lakes, I think. (At least not on this continent.) Tell me about the northern bits. Is it true that Superman has an ice fortress there?

Something else: Talk Wodehouse to me.

Something made of all the awesome: A brief list of the absolute sparkliest, most wondrously awesome things you can think of in each of those categories you list, things that make the universe break out in fireworks and shooting stars and glitter, and makes fireflies dance across your field of view in a tiny kick-line.

So what common thing in Victoria do you not see in other places, and how weird is that when you're out and about?

Are there any HP characters you would like to have a go at writing a story about, but haven't tackled yet? More generally, could you give us a taste of any plot-bunnies that are hopping around, as yet unhomed?

I've been meaning to ask about this for a while, actually, but things fall out of my brain way too easily. How did you get into Warhammer 40k, and is your involvement purely writing/reading or do you play the game?
