It must've been so hard to have gone from a childhood with community to social environments where she was actively not allowed to be herself, practice her traditions, or even speak Anishinaabemowin. I think I can understand why she didn't share for some time, though I'm glad she started to open up eventually and sorry you regret not inviting her to share more.
