It was hard to pick a Sachar, especially since I read so much of his work at an age where I really didn't pay much attention to author names. I could have equally gone with There's a Boy in the Girl's Bathroom or Someday Angeline, but the absurdism and story cycle nature of the Wayside School books made such a big impression.
